New York Superintendent of Insurance Howard Mills announced the appointment of Susan Donnellan as the New York State Insurance Department’s Deputy Superintendent and General Counsel.
Donnellan had been the Department’s Deputy General Counsel since July 2000. She provided legal and policy advice to the department regarding regulatory, enforcement and corporate transaction matters while also being charged with day-to-day oversight of the department’s Office of General Counsel. In addition, she was instrumental in developing the Insurance department’s privacy and e-commerce initiatives and played a key role in the department’s enforcement investigations into the conduct of brokers and insurers, according to Mills.
Prior to joining the Insurance Department, Donnellan served as Associate General Counsel of the Life Insurance Council of New York (LICONY) and before that was Counsel and Secretary of Swiss Re Life Company America.
