David Dickson, former president of the Professional Insurance Agents of New York State, has been appointed to the underwriting committee of the New York Compensation Insurance Rating Board.
Dickson has been named to the committee as the appointee of the AFL-CIO of New York State for a two-year term. As a committee member, he will work with Insurance Department Superintendent Eric Dinallo and other members of the NYCIRB to determine appropriate rates for the state’s workers’ compensation market, administer the workers’ compensation classification system, assess carriers for implementation of appropriate rates and a number of other activities linked to the enforcement of workers’ compensation law.
Dickson has served the insurance-buying public for more than 35 years of experience. In addition to serving as president of PIANY in 2006 and 2007, he is a member of Bailey, Haskell and LaLonde Inc. in Oneida, N.Y. Dickson has also served as an industry consultant on privacy and regulatory issues, has co-authored insurance laws in several states and is an experienced, authorized workers’ compensation safety-group manager. Dickson resides in Fairport, N.Y.
