Fireman’s Fund Insurance Co. has launched a new line of ‘green’ insurance products for New York homeowners — a product the company says is a first for the Empire State.

The policy includes a 5 percent discount for owners of environmentally-friendly homes. It also gives homeowners the option, after a loss, to upgrade their houses with environmentally-friendly features, such as energy efficient appliances, lighting and insulation, water-saving plumbing and non-toxic paints and carpeting.
