GEICO has begun taking job applications for its new, Amherst, N.Y. based subsidiary, GEICO Insurance Agency, which will sell and service homeowners, renters, boat and other coverage.
Gov. David Paterson joined company officials at the new location for a press conference announcing the expansion yesterday.
John Zinno, vice president of GEICO Insurance Agency, said the new operation is expected to create 300 new jobs — mostly in sales and service — over three years.
Zinno started up GEICO operations locally when the company opened its Buffalo office in Amherst in 2004.
