CMIC Announces Additional Practice Coverage for Doctors

September 5, 2012

CMIC, a doctor-owned medical malpractice insurer serving Connecticut and Massachusetts, has launched a new program for Massachusetts doctors who are employed outside of their regular practice (commonly referred to as moonlighting). The new program is available to doctors in the specialties of internal medicine, family practice and hospitalist. Doctors in the program receive significantly reduced rates based on the number of hours in practice.

“CMIC is expanding its product line to meet the growing needs of the physician community,” said Michael Morgan, CMIC’s vice president of business development. “This new program addresses the special requirements of physicians wishing to engage in additional practice and makes it a viable option for many of them.”

CMIC, established as a mutual company in 1984, is a doctor-owned provider of professional liability insurance and services to doctors, hospitals and healthcare professionals. CMIC is headquartered in Glastonbury, Conn.
