Assurant Inc., a provider of specialty insurance and insurance-related products and services, appointed Larry N. Port to the position of senior vice president, corporate development. He is based in Assurant’s headquarters office in New York.
In his new role, Port will be responsible for leading mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures and related activities to support long-term, strategic profitable growth at Assurant. He will coordinate and align related activities across the four Assurant businesses and for the company as a whole.
Port brings more than 35 years of experience to his new role. Most recently, he served as president of MassMutual Capital Partners LLC where he led the company’s corporate development and investment activities. Prior to that appointment, Port held a variety of senior leadership roles of increasing responsibility at the mutual life insurance company.
Before joining the insurance industry, Port worked in the energy industry at Texaco Inc. where he was deputy general counsel and led the company’s interdisciplinary transaction team. He began his career practicing corporate tax and sports law at Goldberg & Snodgrass, a law firm in Pittsburgh.
Assurant has approximately $28 billion in assets and $8 billion in annual revenue, with 14,000 employees worldwide.
