Now you know what Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisianna and Texas have been going through for years. Amazing, didn’t hear any outcry from the folks up in the NorthEast when we had our Hurricanes. And all they got was a little tropical storm or so they claim.

What you did hear from the Northeast as a “Yes” when asked if federal aid should be sent to Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas.

I am guessing that Gov Christie would like for FEMA to staff up all the time as if there is a disaster everyday? WHile the Gov’t runs and funds the program, don’t insurance companies run the backroom? Now that’s a formula for success: a business trying to run an operation and make a dime while the gov’t is in charge and has no regard for how much it costs or if a profit is made.

It also was not dead of winter when the hurricanes hit those other states.

Florida usually gets hit in October with its hurricanes unlike when Sandy hit….oh wait.
Dead of winter? Doesn’t winter start on December 21st?

Yes, Cheetoh, you are correct. Winter only ever starts on and never before December 21. Ask anyone who lives in the Northeast. It is ALWAYS 70 degrees, with a nice breeze coming in at 5 miles an hour every day UNTIL (but not before) December 21. Very observant your are.

Those of us who leave in those other states have a completely different definition of winter. i.e. if it snows more than once – it’s not building on the previous pile which would’ve already melted.

What we do know, however, experiencing flooding, tornadoes, hail, etc. all the time is that snow plows don’t work on water and water tends to find the lowest point and stay – AND NO AMOUNT OF FED OR INS COMP ACTION CAN CHANGE THAT — EVER.

Stop asking for welfare Christie! These state bailouts should be abolished. What’s disgraceful is Christie trying to pass himself off as a Republican although they’re not much better. We need a new party to represent the taxpayer.

PrintedMoney – either you or I mis-read this article. What I am reading is that Christie is simply asking for the NFIP to live up to their promise of adjusting a claim. I didn’t see him asking for any other bailouts. He may be asking that in other forums, but this just seems to be about settling the submitted claims for people who paid their premiums.

So…you seem to care more about Gov. Christies political agenda than you do about getting help to the people who really need it after a natural disaster. Nice!

The point is and will always be that the National Flood Insurance Program IS a disgrace. Perhaps because it is run by the disgraceful government.

What should we expect from a government-run insurance pool?

The Governor can try shame all he wants, but government institutions are consistently slow to respond and insulated against his kind of political bullying in a way that the private market is not.

WHy is the Northeast so full of coercive political figures? Is it part of their culture of corruption?

Seems the folks who did not have flood insurance are better off. They got their federal grants immediately, without having to wait for any claim adjustment.
The folks who played by the rules and had been paying premiums for years have had to wait to get their claims paid, while the grasshoppers (takers) just had to wait in line for their handouts, after submitting little or no documentation. In effect, those who paid the premiums (along with the taxpayer) paid the freeloaders!

Beware. This is the growing mindset of the majority of the low- or no- information American electorate.

They should do this, and they should do that.
    To Gov Christie,
FEDS are not the answer to disaster response, regardless of the monnikers they subscribe to… Dem, Repub, Indep., Tea Party, Socialist, whatever.

YOU TAKE ACTION, and they will be there to back you up and help you recover. What you are seein now is the result of you sitting around on your @@##$%%^ with your hand out and waiting for someone to do something.

Governor Christie is doing a hell of a job. And, he’s one of the very few on The Right who actually make any sort of sense. Heck, I might even vote for the guy in 2016 if given the opportunity. He’d need to have a strong VP candidate though. I worry about his health. Instead of a birth certificate like the wackjobs have asked for, do you think people will be asking for the physical statement from his physician?

If the NFIP is not scrapped it needs to be completely revamped. We all know that the government, regardless of party affiliation, is not capable of creating an effective mechanism to respond to disasters in a timely manner. If it cannot respond quickly then it is useless.

Would love to see the Gov. direct some comments toward the private insurers who hired out of state adjusters and engineers, etc. to handle this task and they are not licensed to conduct business in NJ AND failed to do their jobs, properly? Had a wind adjuster at my house…he sucked….fence leaning from wind; singles roof of neighbor’s house (same side) missing; broken window from debris missed…and more. This guy said, no wind damage. Did not even mention my lost items from my refigerator(s)/freezer(s), etc. Can we file complaints against the insurance company AND these adjusters’ licenses? Clearly, they were lap dogs for the insurance companies…yet they have a fiduciary duty to THE INSURED…as does the company. I had an engineer even say to me (in front of witnesses)…well, I dont work for you…I work for the insurance company. I immediately corrected this idiot and said that the insurance company WORKS FOR ME and, aergo, SO DO YOU. The only way to prevent this from continuing or happening to someone else is to call these insurance companies AND their incompetent hires to task. Fine them, heavily. Please Christie…how about this?

RU….. you always have the option of filing a complaint with the State regulatory (Department of Insurance or whatever it is called in NJ). But in your policy conditions, you have rights to challenge the decision. I would challenge the adjuster’s decision with the company first and if no response, then file the complaint.
