Cops Beef Up Patrols for Boaters’ Party on N.Y. Lake

July 30, 2013

Authorities held vehicle checkpoints on land and marine patrols checking for inebriated boaters at an annual party held in a bay on a popular Adirondack lake.

The party known as Log Bay Day has been held for years on the last Monday in July on the water and along the eastern shore of Lake George in the Washington County town of Fort Ann.

Scores of boats anchor in the shallow, sandy bay while other partiers pack the shore of the state-owned land. Some years, police have made dozens of alcohol-related arrests on land and on the water.
