Actually, most of the right abandoned Christie when he dared take a photo looking friendly with Obama. Check out drudge…they’re no fans of his.

That being said, it does seem like a double standard on how much attention is being paid to Christie vs the man Obama “non-scandals”…

I hope they do audit the books. If he is clean, he doesn’t have anything to worry about. If not, he could end up like the mayor of the Chocolate city (New Orleans) where all kinds of corruption was going on after Katrina. He was indicted by a Federal Grand Jury, but I don’t know when he will be tried. Here is hoping he doesn’t see the light of day again.

So, Governor Christie was abandoned because his state sustained a catastrophe for which he would need federal aid to rebuild and embraced the President of the United States who was going to help the citizens of New Jersey. And, by the way, Republican Governor Christie won re-election by a landslide in a Democtratic-leaning state partly becasue of this approach to help thiose who voted for him.

That is my problem with Conservatives. They are more concerned about image and ideology than getting elected and fixing our problems. It is so much easier to sit on the sidelines, complain, and do nothing. At least Conservatives are good at something.

Ron I would argue that Liberals are just as concerned about their image and ideology. Both parties are about preserving their specific images and can’t be bothered with actual results and really fixing problems. I guess results are just not important in any aspect of the government/political arena regardless of political preference. It just amazes me how many failures occur in the government sector that lead to zero repercussion, be it a politician’s, public employee’s or public program’s failures. Private sector would never get away with those poor results/failures, they would end up fired or even in some cases in prison. But my point is pinning that accusation on just one party seems a bit biased (even if not intended).

I could not agree with you more. Anyone who can actually comprehend my posts would know that I do not like Conservatives, Republicans, Liberals or Democrats. I am an Independent who is fiscally Conservative and socially Liberal. Agent will tell you that is impossible, but what he doesn’t want to come to grips with is that there are more people like me than him.

The reason I specified Conservatives in this case is because Ralph mentioned how the right abandoned Governor Christie because he had the audacity to embrace President Obama at a time when he was more concerned about the citizens of New Jersey than politics. How dare he.

Governor Christie is one of the few potential Presidential candidates for whom I can forsee my voting because he does not bow to either side. I also like Representative Ryan.

A lot of people would say a fiscally conservative and socially liberal independent is called a Libertarian. I know better as a Libertarian may appear that way on most issues but they can’t truly be painted into either category.

I don’t know enough about Christie to comment on if I would support him but I will look into his voting history and platform, color me intrigued. But I am not a fan of Ryan at all.

        Jack,
I don’t watch MSNBC. I listen to Glenn Beck, Stephanie Miller, Thom Hartmann, Sean Hannity, and Michael Savage (on an almost daily basis). When Chris Bradshaw has a show (local guy), I listen to him as well. I realize some Faux News conservatives kicked him to the curb when he worked with The President to solve problems (strange concept for those on the Right, I know). Yet, I also know many conservatives who believe Christie is the best shot at winning the 2016 election. Besides, a scandal is a scandal and Faux News has no problem following them. That is, unless the scandal is brewing on their side of the aisle. Then it’s crickets.

          Agent,

That is what Independents do and why both parties try to court us for our vote. We are not blind followers of anybody.

I am not conflicted at all. Fiscally, I believe in smaller government, less spending, lower taxes, less regulations and balanced budgets. Socially, I believe government should not define marriage between 2 consenting adults, allow women the freedom to decide what is best for them and their bodies, religious freedom equals freedom from religion, and the 2nd Amendment is not absolute.

However, you would need to be open-minded to understand that. Too bad you are a blind follower of Conservatism and Republicans.

If Republicans actually act like fiscal conservatives and not increase spending, run up more debt and deficits the next time they are in power, they will win with me. It is just that simple.

What part of “religious freedom = freedom from religion” do you not understand?

Whenever you allow religious beliefs dictate law you are going against the Constitution, period.

“Let the one who is without sin throw the first stone.” – Jesus

Jesus never says a word about homosexuality, but there was one kind of sin that he spoke out against all the time. There was one kind of sin that got Jesus really mad. This was the sin of religious people who shut out those in need of mercy. This was the sin of people who used the Bible as a weapon. You hear Jesus saying this on page after page of the gospels. Why? Because this type of sin has the potential to damage people like few other things do. It is particularly damaging because they claim to be speaking for God. So if we really want to speak out against sin, we as Christians need to speak out against the kind of sin that Jesus did, and side with the kinds of folks he did. – Derek Flood

Well, Obama made his radio address last weekend and says he will focus on jobs in 2014. It sounds a lot like 09,10,11,12,13 when he was going to focus like a laser on jobs. He even said the last thing he thought about when he went to bed and first thing in the morning was jobs. Of course, he didn’t forget to urge Congress to extend unemployment benefits for the chronically unemployed that have used up their 99 weeks. How many recovery summers have we had now, 5? I am sure 2014 will be different. Dream on America. The EPA has passed another round of regulations to guarantee no new jobs will be created and if that doesn’t work, Obamacare will do the trick. Small business has no chance.

With the solutions they have tried or anticipate trying, this economy will never recover. Look what happened to the Stimulus that was not a stimulus. A trillion down the rat hole and no shovel ready jobs. Even Obama had to admit that failure. Cash for Clunkers? $20 billion cost to the taxpayers. GM/Chrysler Bailout? $10 Billion cost to taxpayers and just protected union jobs. What about West Virginia who is being systematically shut down due to coal regulations? Creating jobs? He did create 500 new jobs with Blue Cross. They had to hire 500 more phone people to answer the phone about Obamacare problems.

What does that tell you about the jobs program of this administration? It took Ronny about 3 years to get the economy rolling again from the largesse and inaction of Carter.

And, it took ol’ Ronny’s economic trickle down philosophy 30+ years to create the largest wealth gap in the history of the world which has resulted in a problem with demand (people can’t afford goods so they are buying them) which has led to companies not hiring because they are keeping up with their supply needs. And, that speaks to your point about only 75,000 jobs created. I guess it beats the number of jobs we were LOSING each month during the economic crisis. A positive number is a positive number. Not good enough, but positive none the less.

Planet, still trotting out that same old post slamming Ronny after he recovered the economy from your hero Carter? Progressive policies are responsible for poor job creation, not Reaganomics. I suppose you really liked Carteromics which provided no incentives to business at all. That’s right, you weren’t alive back during the dark days of Carter so you have no idea how it was back then. Those of us who were really had to scramble with 21% interest rates, stagflation, no energy policy, poor job market. The nation was overjoyed when Reagan took office and he wasted no time doing the things necessary to recover the economy. What we have now is Carteromics on steroids, almost negative growth, no job market, the specter of ever increasing taxes and somehow you think that is a good thing. No wonder people think you are from another planet.

You are so weighed down with your dogma you can’t even see what’s happening to this country. And it’s not because of Progressive policies. It’s because of the political strategy “to promote corporate profit at the expense of the public good.” All funded and driven by members of the 1%.

Agent- The continually myth of the success of Reganmoics and it’s association with capitalism is hurting capitalism to the people that don’t understand how he was not a capitalist. Libby and Captain are right about the divide in classes because of his phony “tax cut” as taxes rose for most people: see “Bracket Creep” and “Social Security Tax.”

We have discussed this before and you provide no good counter arguments. Also, aside from the taxes, please explain how the following are successes for Reagan: 1) In 1980, the last year of Jimmy Carter the federal government spent $591 billion. In 1986, the last recorded year of the Reagan administration, the federal government spent $990 billion, an increase of 68%. 2) Jimmy Carter habitually ran deficits of $40-50 billion and, by the end, up to $74 billion; but by 1984, when Reagan had promised to achieve a balanced budget, the deficit had settled down comfortably to about $200 billion.

Libby- You are on the track that their is a wealth divide that is increasing in this country but I think it is unfair to pin it all on corporate greed/profit. For that greed not enabled by favorable regulations from backdoor deals, lobbying, and cronyism via the government wouldn’t be possible at all! Profit is a beautiful thing if you take away the government and it’s ability to restrict competition. Also another factor is the Federal Reserve providing cheap/easy money to banks and other special interests in effect drastically reducing the purchasing power of everyone who is not a first receiver of the new money.

LiveFree – Backdoor deals, lobbying, and cronyism via the government is made possible by the enormous amounts of cash available to the 1%. THEY own and run this government. Our puppet polticians are led around by the nose and are controlled by them. It’s always all about the money…

Libby- Well either way then it is a case of which came first the chicken or the egg. I agree with you on everything you just said. My point is that people have the power to change government (in theory) but I don’t see people changing the fact they want to make a profit.

They are puppets and they will always be puppets as long as power corrupts. The “1%” has the money to pay for that corrupt power to be on there side and that should not be available to them. I have no problem with there being a 1% (mathematically there always was and will be). But profits that are made without the help of government manipulation in the market won’t cause such a divide in classes.

My solution: A national revolution lol. That is what is really needed. My personal preference is a radical one to most, which is no government at all. However ideally a small one would be best but I don’t trust a small government to not soon become a big one that is being bought and sold again. But IMO a society without a government (or a much smaller one) would certainly eliminate politician puppets and I think it could run much more efficiently. Anyway, regardless of my personal desires for the country I really think something like a revolution is the only solution. Hopefully I am wrong and someone much smarter and in a better position to act knows a better way to fix this.

Here is a random hypothetical example/thought: Even if a someone became president and he was not bought, it would mean little to nothing in the long run. Hell even if he was elected at the same time that a whole congress was elected that also weren’t bought (yeah right) they would have to make drastic changes to government policy to vastly limit their powers and put in place barriers to resurrect those powers. Why you ask? So the next ones in charge can’t sell their power to the “1%”. But to me that is impossible. No matter what a government will grow and assume more power, all in the guise of being good for the people, and even if it really is at the time good for everyone (nothing can really be good for everyone) eventually it will just be a barging chip for them to tempt a financially sound special interest group.

Are you advocating no federal government, but keeping a state government? Because without any government, I’m afraid there would be anarchy and the strong would overpower the weak. What about our national defense? What would stop another government from overtaking our country and making it theirs?

No. I think revolution it is. Viva la revolucion!

I am saying no government and in fact mean anarchy. Anarchy is only demonized by people that doesn’t really understand it. It is not about people wanting the wild west or Somalia. It is people that think private controls are more effective and less apt to corruption than government/public controls. Your fear is a very common one that has been discussed thoroughly by people that are interested in what an Anarchist society would become. I won’t even pretend to try to convey that I could explain it clearly to anyone so here a link to a related article: http://mises.org/daily/1855

I don’t feel the need to define myself as being Libertarian or Anarchist. I am interested in both and I closely follow the work of both movements. Why do you need to label me? Let’s not forget, prior to Carter taking over, Tricky Dicky removed us from the gold standard and putting us on the oil standard which in turn threw off any stability our currency had at that time, and couple it with the travisty called the Vietnam War and you had a master plan for disaster. Carter wasn’t about to use our military to boost our economy. All Pope Ron did was create a culture of paranoia, most of which created by the copious amounts of cocaine and other narcotics that were popular at the time, (the other half of the Iran Contra Affair that isn’t talked about as much) as well as help the Hollywood industry during the 80’s with anti-communist propaganda that would never be a threat in any industrialized nation. Hence movies like Red Dawn were created and many conservatives had nowhere to go but under their beds with their 8 balls of blow to comfort them.

Unfortunately, instead of government being there for people in times of disaster, aid is doled out like favors, for those that play the game. At least Christy took immediate action and fired the two top aides orchestrating this. And over in the WH, Sebilius lives on, Lois Lerner went unpunished and we have all sorts of ‘phony scandals’ being swept under the rug by our president so we can focus on traffic jams. They are not into helping anyone other than themselves. When the Oklahoma tornados devastated Moore, Oklahoma, Okla City, people poured in from several surrounding states to help in aid and clearing debris, providing food, water to the victims. Churches and civic groups did a lot during that time. We actually have a heart in the South.

            Agent,

The North can only provide so many resources for only so long for South ‘Murrica. The North has overpaid their share bailing out South ‘Murrica generation after generation. We loaded the South up with military bases during the Reconstruction Period in order to provide the financial stability and now a majority of our tax dollars go to fund the largest government program we have. The North has provided most of the financial aid South ‘Murrica has received storm after storm, there’s just no other source. When the roles are reversed there should never be an objection to funding the aid of the economic epicenter of America. The heart you talk about is only as good as a good person that does good deeds would do the same deed anonymously, with out a tax write off, or without looking for converts or sales leads. That’s the snake oil salesmen lifestyle of the South. The South has been ripping its own people off for way too long in order to keep the wealthy rich by making the dumb dumber. That doesn’t fly in the North. It would be great to be able to take time off and travel across the nether regions to help out, but then again we in the North have two national economies to worry about, North and South. Being that you have all the extra time in your day that allows you to take ice tea breaks and judge pecan pie contests, we delegate that to our brothers and sisters to the South. Remember, help rid your region of Tornado Bait and clean up the lifestyle down there so we don’t have to keep having this discussion.

Agent – Obama probably didn’t come to Texas because there is certainly no hospitality coming from that state. Just be happy he came when he did. And no, I’m not ticked off that he went to GW’s library, as I’m sure it was a very short visit. LOL!

Only every living ex President attended Libby along with the current one. Carter didn’t even know where he was, but he was there along with HW who also didn’t know where he was. Those guys are pretty frail now. Had you seen it, you would have seen a large crowd that attended. The security was massive for miles in both directions.

Maybe, but I’m sure it was very short. Dubya + Library = very small library. LOL!

Actually, it is a pretty large library and very nice. I have been there. It is very modern with a lot of interactive displays and history of his 8 years. The least impressive Presidential library is LBJ’s in Austin. BORING! I have no interest in traveling to Clinton’s in Little Rock. In fact, I wish the Arkansas river would flood and carry it down stream.

You’re an idiot. Clinton was a Rhodes scholar. Dubya had to buy his way through Yale.

“How did Bush get into Yale?” It wasn’t because of any academic achievement: his high school record was ordinary. It wasn’t because of his life experience–prosperous family, fancy prep school–which was all too familiar at Yale. It wasn’t his SAT scores: 566 verbal and 640 math.

They may not have had an explicit point system at Yale in 1964, but Bush clearly got in because of affirmative action. Affirmative action for the son and grandson of alumni. Affirmative action for a member of a politically influential family. Affirmative action for a boy from a fancy prep school. These forms of affirmative action still go on.”

Clinton’s intellect runs circles around Dubya’s.

Libby, are you talking about the disbarred, impeached but not removed former President who lied in front of a Federal Grand Jury about the intern under his desk? In fact, he never lied unless his lips moved. How did your current President get into Harvard with his undistinguished record at Occidental College? Where are his college transcripts? Why are they sealed from view? Who funded him? It certainly wasn’t from his mother or family who had no money.

          1) If the worse Clinton lied about was a bj from Monica, I have no problem with that. It’s nobody’s business anyway. If every man that lied about that was punished, we’d have very few men among us.
          2) Dubya’s lie cost us thousands of lives and billions of dollars.
          3) Obama had no money to buy his way into Harvard. He relied on his intelligence and past record at COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY. He was also President of the Harvard Law Review. Quite a distinguished academic record compared to your homegrown turd, GW.

Libby, you and badmouthbreather should take a happy pill and just shut up for a while. It is clear that both of you are very unhappy people with a lot of stress in your lives. Your posts are way off the charts terrible.

Thanks Agent, even I gave you a like for that post. No stress or anger here, I just enjoy responding to posts about Texico and supply side politics. When I post, I kind of get that same feeling you get when you look up at your ceiling every night and see that poster above your bed of Ron Reagan in a pair of jeans. My posts can be brash but they are intended that way. I won’t pull any punches like they do on Fox and Friends or The Five. You should watch the Daily Show Parody on the Five by the way. Great satire on the infidelities of the short skirted sorority panel.

Libby, I will make a deal with you. If you can unseal Obama’s records from either Columbia or Hartford assuming he went there, I will stack GW’s records up against his and we will see who has the best GPA and what they took in college.

First, few modern presidents have released their transcripts nor are they under any obligation to do so. Not releasing them does not mean the person has something to hide.

Second, regarding his college grades, there is something that we do know: his grades from Harvard Law School. It is public record, and was reported in the press of that time (1991) that he graduated in the top 10% of his class and received academic honors (Magna Cum Laude). His professors also have said publicly that he was a top student, which is why he became the editor of the Harvard Law Review.

Dubya = Mediocre Student Obama – Magna Cum Laude

I don’t think there’s any question about who’s grades are better.

Libby, If Obamanation told you the world was flat you’d believe him- “If you like your Plan you can keep your Plan, period” – really?
The IRS is not targeting people! – really?
A video caused the spontaneous riot in Benghasi killing 4 Americans and we could do nothing- really?
“It’s unpatriotic to increase the debt limit!” – really?
I was born in Hawaii- really?
“My father fought in WWII”- really? – at 6 years old?
“I have visited 57 States with more to go”- really?
            “The police acted stupidly”- really?

BTW- look up Reagan’s Economic Recovery Act of 1981 and see what it did to the numbers, at the time the Prime Rate moved almost daily hovering around 15%-18%.

            Give me a break, Grasshopper.

Realist – I’m not as dumb as you think I am, but I do know that Obama’s college transcripts have nothing to do with the cost of tea in China anymore than they do anything else. While I know it is impossible for you neocons to admit to ANY positive aspect of Mr. Obama, his academic record speaks for itself.

And he WAS born in Hawaii. His grandfather was in WWII and yes, he made a gaffe when he said 57 states. Big deal. Shall we compare the number of Obama gaffes to Dubya’s?

Reaganomics caused the largest wealth disparity this country has ever seen – all in just 30 years.

Beside Reagan/Bush Obama is a Rhodes scholar. Oh, yeah! Clinton really was one! LOL!!!
