    New York’s DFS officials also encouraged drivers to carry buggy whips. New investment in usage based telematics programs is money down the drain, I wonder how Google’s Autonomous Car would register on a telematics device? I wonder if NY DFS is getting a kickback from Progressive’s Snapshot division for new sign ups?

    Actually, this article skipped the most interesting piece, IMO, of the NYDFS bulletin. Their “keen interest in receiving filings” may be related to one received that included:

    “…a combined driving monitoring and cellphone control program that uses telematics devices to block a driver’s ability to send text messages or make phone calls from specifically identified smartphones….”
