I didn’t see any information on whether this person was insured or not. Given where this community is situated, it seems an important piece of info.

I’m not that familiar with Federal Flood, are there replacement cost, ordinance of law, ICC & Demolition coverages available as well?

Nope. And the most one can purchase on the residential side is $250,000 I believe. $500,000 on the commercial side with no Business Income offered.

NFIP is a very complicated program.

There is also an excess flood market where the homeowner or business owner can purchase up to actual reconstruction cost if their exposure exceeds the FEMA limits.

I guess that hug on the boardwalk did not cut out all the red tape, did it?

Let’s see, we have a known risk (flooding), inadequate insurance or no insurance coverage, a conscious choice by a responsible adult to live in the area of known risk without adequate insurance coverage… How exactly is this Christie’s fault?

It amazes me that people are actually complaining that the CHARITY money and FREEBIES from the taxpayers aren’t coming quickly enough? How about you people fix your own darn homes and leave the rest of the country out of it?

Hey, if I don’t buy enough fire insurance coverage and my house burns down are the shore people going to come bail me out. I’m guessing NO WAY. Sorry, I’m not a big fan of the Gov, but I’ve got to call BS on this one. This is not Christie’s fault.

Good chance Christie mistakenly thought the funds were a salad and ate them. He’s never seen a salad before so I can see where a mix up could occur.
