Massachusetts state officials are offering an upbeat assessment of efforts to repair the state’s hobbled health insurance website.
Maydad Cohen, special assistant to Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick, told the state’s health connector board on Thursday that new software purchased by the state passed initial tests with flying colors.
A final decision is planned next month on whether to permanently implement the new software which has worked successfully in other states.
The state, however, will continue to make alternative plans to switch over to the federal health insurance exchange if that becomes necessary.
The state fired its lead contractor on the website earlier this year and has been forced to place more than 200,000 residents in temporary coverage.
