My state is a disgrace to technology and innovation. Maryland has long been the most corrupt and cronyist state in the union. I can’t wait to leave; I won’t miss it.

I guess you agree that Uber & Lyft are just technology companies and not transportation. this is exactly how they framed the debate in order to operate what is essentially an unregulated taxi service. No regulation means it could be price competitive but what do you do when you, as a rider, are injured while getting a ride? Or better yet, what do you do when one of the drivers hits you or your car in a collision? are you just going to call in your claim? to whom? Your carrier may deny coverage that it did not contemplate in pricing your policy and rightly so. Maryland is very aggressive in its auto and home regulation to make sure things like that are resolved fairly. No one rides for free anywhere so the innovation offered by Uber is offset by what you gave up: regulation which protects you. You’ll have a different opinion when it hits your wallet!

Uber is a lying criminal tax-evading enterprise. It has $40 BILLIONS yet it wants “special treatment” evades laws, regulations, taxes, municipal and regulatory dues that ARE paid by all other local transportation providers. Enabling criminals and their criminal enterprise is dumb and short-sighted.
