A new website will give tourists a chance to purchase Mexican automobile insurance before they venture south of the border. In addition, agents can order policies for their customers through a website designed for insurance professionals.
As U.S. policies usually aren’t valid in Mexico, there’s often a long wait at border crossings to obtain the mandatory Mexican coverage. The joint venture between leading broker International Insurance Group Inc. and Mexico’s Grupo Nacional Provincial S.A. hopes to change that. It will give consumers, agents, brokers and insurance companies the means to obtain policies before the trip starts.
The consumer site, www.mexpro.com, gives tourists the opportunity to purchase and print Mexican auto insurance underwritten by GNP, one of Mexico’s few A rated insurers. There’s also a toll free number—1-888-467-4639—through which policies may be ordered and copies obtained by fax.
Insurance professionals, agents, brokers and insurance companies can write Mexico coverage through www.mexicaninsuranceonline.com. They will receive commissions for all policies written.
