Lloyd’s has named Nicholas Smith as its Attorney in fact in Canada for Lloyd’s Underwriters effective June 1, 2001. He will succeed Mark J. Oppenheim CA, who has filled the position since 1992.
Smith, who became the first President of Lloyd’s Canada Inc. earlier this month when Lloyd’s reorganized its operations there, was previously Canadian Regional Manager for Lloyd’s. His new position confirms his authority to under Canada’s Insurance Companies Act to carry out necessary regulatory functions.
