Hannover Re has selected top executive Dr. Detlef Steiner, to become the new head of its largest subsidiary, Clarendon Insurance Group of New York. Steiner, who currently heads Hannover’s North American p/c reinsurance operations, will replace Ralph Milo, who plans to retire at the end of the year.
Steiner also serves on Hannover’s executive board, and is an expert in program business. He’ll bring his expertise to Clarendon in a move seen as bolstering its already number one position in the program market. His position on the Board will be taken over by CEO Wilhelm Zeller who’ll assume responsibility for Group-wide program business on Hannover’s executive board.
Hannover also announced the appointment of Jurgen Graber to replace Steiner as head of North America p/c reinsurance. He’ll retain responsibility for financial reinsurance, and will coordinate the entire non-life reinsurance operations of the Hannover Group.
