GE Frankona Re announced it has formed a new London-based Aviation Unit, in a move aimed at enhancing service to the aviation market. The new unit will focus on providing re/insurance (hull and liability) to smaller airlines, minor aviation- product manufacturers, airports and re-fuellers in addition to the general aviation business.
GE Frankona Re stated that by servicing these additional target groups, it considerably extends the range of its expertise. Based in London, this unit will be able to maintain closer contact with brokers than before, thus providing the necessary expertise right upfront.
With this move, GE Frankona Re is responding to the increasingly demanding requirements of the aviation market, which has been particularly affected by the Sept. 11 events.
In making the announcement, Robbie Klaus, Global Specialty Leader, commented: “The London market is important to us and is therefore one in which we are keen to offer a superior service. We feel that the depth of experience and local responsiveness our new unit brings to the London market, backed by our strong financial reputation, will help us achieve this.”
Senior underwriter Greg Dawson will lead the new unit. Dawson has over 20 years of experience as an aviation underwriter, having started his career with Lloyd’s Syndicate 271. From Aug. 7, Greg will be assisted by Wayne Murphy who previously worked for AIG London.
