PartnerRe Appoints Vito H. Baumgartner to Board of Directors

Bermuda’s PartnerRe Ltd. announced that Vito H. Baumgartner has been appointed to its Board of Directors, effective November 1, 2003.

The announcement noted that “Mr. Baumgartner, 63, is a Group President and Executive Office member of Caterpillar Inc. a leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, and industrial gas turbines.” He is a graduate of the Swiss School of Commerce and MIT’s Program for Senior Executives, and has administrative responsibility for the company’s Building Construction Products Division, Europe-Africa-Middle East (EAME) Marketing Division, EAME Product Development and Operations Division, and the European Shared Services Division.

PartnerRe’s Chairman, John Rollwagen, commented, “The Board of Directors and our CEO, Patrick Thiele, join me in welcoming Vito to PartnerRe. His management experience along with his international background will be a significant asset to the Company and to the Board as we continue to build a strong global network and also as we cultivate our position as one of the most diversified multi-line reinsurers in the world.”
