Bermuda-based AXIS Capital Holdings Limited announced that it has appointed Andreas Thiele to the new position of Senior Vice President Director, Asia Pacific Region.
The Company said it is “currently reviewing plans for a local presence in Asia,” and noted that “Thiele has over twenty-five years of experience in the reinsurance industry in Europe, the U.S. and Asia.” His role will be to “spearhead strategic business development in the Asia Pacific region for the Company’s Global Reinsurance and Global Insurance segments.”
John Charman, President and CEO, commented, “The important Asian region is the last of the significant global locations that we at AXIS are contemplating. This represents the final building block to our international network and will allow us to maximize our penetration in the region. Having someone of Andreas Thiele’s experience and background represent AXIS in the region will greatly enhance our underwriting activities and service capabilities as well as facilitate our business development plans there.”
