Canada-based Groupe Promutuel Federation of general mutual property/casualty insurance companies has announced the nomination of Adrien Viens as president of Groupe Promutuel for a three-year term.
Subsequent to the departure of Mario Fortier for health reasons, the administrators of the 34 mutual insurance companies were invited to submit their candidacies for consideration for the position of president at an upcoming special general meeting. This meeting was held Wednesday afternoon in Sillery, following which Viens took on his new responsibilities as Groupe Promutuel president.
Viens, president of the Promutuel Gaspesie – les Iles general mutual insurance company since 1998, also sits on the board of directors of Groupe Promutuel, as well as those of the Promutuel Capital trust company and Promutuel Guarantee Fund. He has also actively participated in a number of committees over the past four years. Viens is recognized for his involvement in a number of community associations and organizations.
In his new role, Viens will focus on ensuring that Groupe Promutuel and its associated mutual insurance companies continue on their present course, including the development and ongoing improvement of Groupe Promutuel’s personal insurance and financial services.
Groupe Promutuel has nearly 500,000 policyholder members and sales of over $410 million.
