Guy Carpenter & Company, MarshMac’s global risk and reinsurance specialist, announced that Chairman Salvatore D. Zaffino has retired from the firm.
The bulletin said he would “continue in the role of Non-Executive Chairman of Guy Carpenter & Company, LLC. In this capacity, he will work in a consultative role with senior management at both Guy Carpenter and MMC.”
“Sal has provided strong leadership throughout his eight years with the firm,” noted President and CEO David Spiller. “He has been a driving force behind the growth of the organization and an inspiration through some difficult times. We wish him much continued success in all of his future endeavors.”
Zaffino was appointed Chairman of Guy Carpenter in 1999. He previously had served as Chairman and CEO of Sedgwick Re North America from 1993 to 1998. From 1985 to 1993, he was Chairman of Crump Re, an organization he created and continued to manage until its merger with Sedgwick Re. He began his insurance career as an underwriter for American Mutual.
