The Zurich Financial Services Group has appointed Ian Parker, a 42 year old UK citizen, to the position of Head of Strategy for Europe General Insurance (EGI), effective February 1st.
He will be responsible for “implementing the business division’s strategy thus enabling EGI to achieve its vision and profitable growth ambitions and ultimately ensuring that it delivers on Zurich’s aspiration to be the leading general insurer in its chosen markets
in Europe,” said the announcement.
Parker reports to Annette Court, CEO Europe General Insurance, and will be located in London. He joins Zurich from Royal Bank of Scotland Insurance where he most recently was managing a general insurance joint venture with the Bank of China in Beijing.
Prior to that he held various senior leadership roles and headed up both business and strategy units. Before that he was a partner in a strategic management consultancy and also worked for Eagle Star from 1996 until 1998 prior to the merger with Zurich.
