JLT Sets up Japan Subsidiary

UK-based international broker JLT Group announced that it has established JLT Holdings Japan “through an equity transfer arrangement.” JLT said the “new holding company structure, insurance agency operations will be conducted by JLT Risk Services Japan (formerly Jardine Lloyd Thompson Limited), while JLT Japan (formerly JLT Re Japan) will conduct the insurance and reinsurance broking businesses.

“The goals of the new structure are to ensure greater responsiveness to client needs as well as to facilitate the independent operations of each business unit.”

The bulletin also noted that under the new structure, JLT Risk Services Japan will profit from “26 years of experience to provide risk management advice and insurance agency services, while JLT Japan provides insurance broking solutions on domestic and overseas insurance programs, and reinsurance broking services.”

In addition the two units will also be able to “harness the JLT Group’s strengths in overseas markets to serve Japanese companies abroad.” The JLT Group “offers key capabilities in the fields of construction, power, infrastructure, manufacturing, real estate and aviation,” said the bulletin, as well as “effective solutions on local, regional and global insurance programs.”
