Lloyd’s Names Inga Beale as CEO; First Woman to Hold Post

Lloyd’s has announced the appointment of Inga Beale as its new CEO. She will take over on the first of January, when current CEO Richard Ward steps down at the end of December, and will be the first woman to serve as CEO.

Beale comes to Lloyd’s with three decades of international insurance and reinsurance experience. Most recently, she has been Group Chief Executive of Canopius, the prominent Lloyd’s managing agent.

Prior to that she spent four years with Zurich Insurance, including a period as Global Chief Underwriting Officer. She joined Zurich after having served as Group CEO of Converium Ltd, the Swiss mid-sized independent reinsurance company, where she led a major turnaround of the business before it was acquired by SCOR in 2007.

Beale started her career as an underwriter with Prudential before spending 14 years in a variety of international roles for GE Insurance Solutions.
