It is refreshing to see the successes of being strong. In the face of such risks, it is difficult to understand why anyone would be against vigorously defending against piracy.

Pacifists who expect us to live under their worldview are welcome to take their unarmed maritime adventures through Somalian waters. But they should not expect those of us in “Real-ville” to pay ransom or risk our lives freeing them from pirates who violently take advantage of weakness.

True success is inflicting enough pain to discourage further attacks. Having them cruise away after a failed attack will not keep them from trying again. Having seen some of their pirate colleagues get blown to pieces in a failed attempt would have been a better victory.

Why did it take so long to put armed guards on ships? Seems like a no-brainer.

“Expenses are prohibitive” was what I heard about not putting armed escorts on the boats earlier. Think of all that paper work, filing fees, and insurance the company will have to dole out to protect it’s crew members and not to mention the cargo, which is worth millions. (Sarcasm)

After a few dead people, stock prices falling and bad PR on the news, they have decided in all their wisdom to put security personnel on the ships, albeit the ones carrying precious cargo.

Arm sercurity was not implemented until Obama persuaded an International Law to be passed. I was paid $1200 a day on a security detail to ship ride! It was awesome and chaaaching!!! Lasted about a year. Now the Pirates kind of disbanded. They will start back up eventually after the heat is off them
