Ozay to Take Over from Gurkan as CEO of Aon Benfield Turkey

Aon Benfield, the global reinsurance intermediary and capital advisor of Aon plc, announced that Servet Gurkan, Chairman and CEO of Aon Benfield Turkey, plans to retire and will leave the firm on July 1st. Ferhan Ozay will take over as CEO of the Turkish team, based in Istanbul.

Gurkan joined and founded Aon Benfield Turkey in 2002. During his tenure “he created a very strong team of professionals who helped the firm to become the leading reinsurance intermediary in the Turkish market, with risk transfer capabilities spanning treaty, facultative and capital markets,” said the announcement.

Richard Posgate, Co-CEO of Aon Benfield EMEA, described his tenure as “admirable,” having produced significant growth in the region, and thanked Gurkan for his efforts.

Ozay will report to Ahmed Rajab, CEO of Aon Benfield Middle East and North Africa (MENA). He joined Aon Benfield in 2006 to manage both the treaty and facultative capabilities of the Turkish business, before taking a sole focus on the facultative account in 2009. He has 23 years of industry experience, including roles of Executive VP at Garanti and Assistant General Manager at Isvicre Insurance companies.”
