Sturrock Named Sr. VP in Marsh’s Political Risk and Structured Credit Practice

May 4, 2016

Marsh announced that Abbey Sturrock has joined the firm’s Political Risk and Structured Credit Practice as a senior vice president within the Public Agency Group.

Based in London, Sturrock is responsible for delivering Marsh’s advisory and placement capabilities for the public agency sector across the globe – for entities such as multilateral development banks (MDBs) and export credit agencies (ECAs).

Sturrock joins Marsh from the Berne Union, the leading global association of public and private export credit and investment insurers, where she served as a director. Prior to that, she was an underwriter for Export Development Canada (EDC), an export credit agency headquartered in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

“Given today’s volatile political risk environment and the extraordinary demands facing public agencies – especially those from large-scale contracts and investments in emerging markets – MBDs and ECAs are increasingly turning to the private credit and political risk markets to help share risk and diversify their portfolios,” said Julian Macey-Dare, international head of Marsh’s Political Risk and Structured Credit Practice.

“This level of cooperation requires an adviser like Abbey Sturrock with the unique knowledge and skill set of both the public agency and private insurance markets who can help foster collaboration and provide solutions. I’m thrilled she has joined the team.”

Marsh & McLennan Cos. formed a Public Agency Group in 2012 to assist MDBs, ECAs and other official agencies optimize access to private sector capacity. The team includes professionals from Marsh’s Global Political Risk and Structured Credit Practice, Marsh’s Surety Practice and Guy Carpenter.
