Lloyd’s Insurer Advent Names Gray as Direct & Facultative Property Consultant

September 23, 2016

Lloyd’s insurer Advent has appointed Jonathan Gray as consultant for its direct & facultative (D&F) property division. He takes up his role with immediate effect and will report to Nigel Fitzgerald, CEO.

Gray brings more than four decades of underwriting experience to Advent. Prior to his retirement in 2015, Gray served as a director at Beazley, where he led the open market property underwriting team in London. He also served on the Beazley board until June 2013 and is a non-executive director of AEGIS’ London board, which he joined in February 2016. Gray began his insurance career at the CE Heath Syndicate in 1973.

“Jonathan brings an exceptional level of underwriting experience to Advent. His contribution to the market has been immense and he will reinforce our D&F property offering by providing us with unparalleled insight and expertise in the sector,” said Fitzgerald.

Gray added, “Today’s marketplace is undoubtedly difficult, however we have been here before, and I believe we can underwrite successfully by working closely with our clients and London broking partners. In addition, Advent has some unique advantages through its relationship with the Fairfax Group, and I am excited to be part of what is a well thought out long term strategy.”
