The Chicago-based Urban Insurance Partners Institute (UIPI) is organizing a national workshop to help insurers gain the tools necessary to compete effectively in urban areas. Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), a nonprofit organization dedicated to rebuilding communities, is a major co-sponsor.
“It’s important for insurance companies to learn more about opportunities in urban markets,” says Kathleen Sebelius, president of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. The UIPI educational gathering, scheduled for mid-November in Chicago, is designed to benefit insurance companies of all sizes.
The Urban Insurance Advantage workshop, the first of its kind, is set for Nov. 14-15 at the Hotel Allegro in Chicago. Urban affairs leaders, insurance company experts and state insurance department representatives will lead the workshop sessions. Topics will include investments as strategic tools; tax credit law; agent recruitment and retention; multi-cultural marketing; Chicago model urban programs; legal issues; community partnerships; grass-roots marketing; regulations; and technology.
Companies interested in finding out more about the educational gathering should contact the Urban Insurance Partners Institute at (773) 880-8780 or see www.uipi.org.
