Property and casualty insurance specialist, Westfield Group, of Westfield, Ohio, has become the newest multi-tiered contributor to InVEST, an insurance education program that trains high school and community college students in insurance agency and company operations. According to InVest, Westfield Group has committed not only financial support but community outreach services as well.
“Westfield’s contributions to InVEST demonstrate their commitment to securing the future of our industry. They are truly committed to building the industry and the economy of the greater Cleveland area,” said InVEST chairman Jim Armitage.
According to a study conducted in 1996 by the Greater Cleveland Growth Association and collaborating economic development organizations, insurance was identified as one of the top-five driver industries in the region. Based on these findings, an Insurance Cluster, comprised of approximately 25 insurance company and insurance agency executives, came together to develop a marketing strategy and to stimulate the creation of workforce training programs. Westfield played a key leadership role in these efforts, focusing on defining industry career pathways and introducing InVEST to a broad high school community.
Dan Sondles, senior executive of Business Development for Westfield Group, said, “We think InVEST is the perfect way to teach high school students about the multitude of opportunities within the world of insurance. We want to encourage these students to remain in Ohio.”
