Illinois Governor Jim Ryan appointed John Polak, president /CEO of Argonaut Great Central Insurance Company as chairman of the Illinois Dry-Cleaner Environmental Response Trust Fund for a term of three years.
The fund was established by the Illinois Legislature in 1997 in response to requests by operators of retail dry-cleaning facilities to have financial resources available to pay for the cleanup of spills and /or leaks from their dry-cleaning machines and solvent storage units.
Polak, commented that “This Fund and the work of our council is critical to the continuation and success of the dry-cleaning industry in Illinois. The insurance and remedial programs supported by the Fund as well as the associated basic risk management practices required for eligibility, are intended to provide at least a minimum degree of financial security to an industry predominately comprised of small, family owned businesses.”
