Chicago-based online broker InsuranceVianet has named Robert D. Hunter, formerly CEO of Barclays Private Clients London’s Barclays Bank, to its board of directors. InsuranceVianet is the holding company that provides overall guidance and governance of its two subsidiary operations, InsuranceNoodle and InsureVianet.
Hunter, who has 35 years financial services experience both in the United States and globally, is known for his proven leadership and expertise in building and restructuring large businesses, the company said in a statement. At Barclays Bank, Hunter was a member of the group executive committee. He retired from Barclays in July at the mandatory retirement age of 60.
Prior to Barclays Bank, Hunter was president of Standard & Poor’s Financial Information Services. S&P’s information businesses formed one of the major business units within the McGraw-Hill Group and in his capacity as president of S&P FIS he served as a member of the McGraw-Hill Executive Committee.
Prior to Standard and Poor’s, Hunter held several key officer positions over the course of twenty-eight years in the retail and wholesale banking divisions of Chase Manhattan Bank, both in New York and London, culminating in his role as senior executive fice president for consumer financial services.
Hunter, who also serves on the boards of NYU Downtown Hospital and FirstCaribbean International Bank, holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Manhattan College and an MBA in finance from Columbia University.
