GE’s Employers Reinsurance Corp. (GE ERC) dedicated its new global headquarters building in Kansas City, Mo., last week. The company had been headquartered in Overland Park, Kan., a suburb of Kansas City.
Missouri Gov. Bob Holden and State Sen. Charles Wheeler joined ERC CEO Ron Pressman in cutting a ribbon at the facility at 9201 State Line Rd.
About 350 employees in corporate functions will work in the global headquarters, the company said in a statement. More than 900 employees in sales, account management and underwriting will work at ERC’s office just across the state line in Overland Park.
The building at 9201 State Line was built in 1963, with additions completed in 1973 and 1985. The four-story, 155,000-square-foot office building and four-level parking structure is situated on 7.17 acres at the intersection of State Line Road and 92nd Street in Kansas City.
ERC, a reinsurer and commercial insurer, purchased the building from Dodson Insurance and commissioned extensive interior renovations.
