The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation is offering a premium discount incentive to active Ohio safety council members in the wake of its success in a previous initiative.
In March 2004, BWC offered a 2 percent discount to active Ohio safety council members to promote workplace safety and increase safety council membership. A record number of Ohio employers have joined, boosting membership more than 100 percent, from nearly 2,900 in 2004 to more than 7,500 currently, according to the BWC.
The new program offers employers that actively participate in the safety council program a 4 percent premium refund in fiscal year 2006.
Safety councils work with BWC’s Division of Safety & Hygiene to increase safety awareness.
