St. Paul Travelers has deployed its Catastrophe Response Team to assist policyholders affected by the severe tornadoes and hailstorms in Illinois, Kansas and Missouri, according to a written statement issued by the company.
In addition to catastrophe claim specialists, St. Paul Travelers has dispatched two Mobile Claim Headquarters — custom-built RVs designed as mobile insurance claim offices that can provide claim services immediately following a disaster. The vehicles will be stationed in the hardest hit areas surrounding Springfield, Ill. and Kansas City, Mo.
The company statement said that these first-in-the-industry vehicles were developed as a result of lessons learned from Hurricane Andrew, which devastated parts of Florida in 1992. The vehicles are staffed by catastrophe response team members and equipped with everything required to process claims in the midst of a disaster, such as onboard computers and databases, printers, photocopiers, cell phones, and fax machines. Each vehicle has its own generator, so it can operate in places without electricity and can process claims through wireless or satellite connectivity if land lines are not available.
St. Paul Travelers claim professionals are available to take customer claims 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Customers are encouraged to report their loss directly by calling these numbers:
* Travelers Home and Auto Claims: 800.CLAIM33 (800-252-4633)
