St. Paul Travelers Deploys Cat Response Team in Midwest

April 4, 2006

St. Paul Travelers has deployed its Catastrophe Response Team to assist policyholders affected by the severe tornadoes and hailstorms across the Midwest, including Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Missouri and Tennessee.

In addition to catastrophe claim specialists, St. Paul Travelers has dispatched three Mobile Claim Headquarters, custom-built RVs designed as mobile insurance claim offices that can provide claim services immediately following a disaster to be stationed in the hardest hit areas surrounding Springfield, Ill., Nashville, Tenn., and St. Louis.

These first-in-the-industry vehicles were developed as a result of lessons learned from Hurricane Andrew, which devastated parts of Florida in 1992. They are staffed by catastrophe response team members and equipped with everything required to process claims in the midst of a disaster, such as onboard computers and databases, printers, photocopiers, cell phones, and fax machines. Each vehicle has its own generator, so it can operate in places without electricity and can process claims through wireless or satellite connectivity if land lines are not available.

St. Paul Travelers claim professionals are available to take customer claims 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Customers are encouraged to report their loss directly by calling these numbers:

* Travelers Home and Auto Claims: 800.CLAIM33 (800.252.4633)
* St. Paul Travelers and Travelers Business Claims: 800.238.6225
* St. Paul Business Claims: 800.STPAUL1 (800.787.2851)

St. Paul Travelers provides commercial property casualty insurance. Under the Travelers brand, the company is the second largest underwriter of auto and homeowners insurance through independent agents.
