Gov. Matt Blunt recently announced that Linda Bohrer will serve as acting director for the Department of Insurance, Financial Institutions and Professional Registration.
Bohrer started working for the department in 1994 and currently serves as director of the department’s Insurance Market Regulation Division. She manages the review of insurance company policies, rates, products and marketing strategies and oversees market conduct examinations to ensure equitable treatment of policyholders.
During her time at the department, Bohrer also worked in various positions within the Consumer Affairs Division of the department to assist consumers with insurance company and agent complaints, provide information on insurance policies and investigate insurance fraud.
In 2000, she left the department to assist the Office of Administration but returned in 2002.
Prior to her positions with the department, Bohrer worked in the underwriting and claims sections of a large property and casualty company.
Blunt appointed the former insurance director, Doug Ommen to the Administrative Hearing Commission. The commission is a neutral, independent, administrative tribunal that decides disputes involving state agencies and another party, usually a private person or corporation.
