Ann Arbor, Mich.-based Armstrong/Robitaille/Riegle Inc. has merged with Colt Park Insurance Agency of Brighton, Mich.
Colt Park, along with A/R/R, will continue to write commercial insurance and personal lines and now will have a full array of employee benefits and financial services to offer to the Michigan marketplace. A/R/R specializes in insuring multi-state and multi-location businesses.
Gloria Winchel will head the VIP personal lines division and will be based in Brighton along with the Colt Park team.
Colt Park Insurance Agency was founded in 1903 and served the residents of South East Michigan. Jim Winchel, who lost his battle with cancer in Sept. 2008, and his wife Gloria, grew the agency, which specialized in VIP personal lines and commercial insurance. Colt Park represents a number of major insurance companies and is licensed to write in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Florida and Tennessee.
Prior to his death, Jim Winchel gained a reputation as a longtime Brighton community leader who served three terms as mayor in the 1990s and served on several other commissions and boards. “Jim was pleased we could perpetuate the agency in Brighton, and continue to serve our clients and our community,” said Gloria Winchel.
Laurie Riegle, CEBS, president of Armstrong/Robitaille/Riegle Inc. said: “I worked with Jim and his staff for the past five years. … We came to the conclusion early last year that given our mutual commitment to provide our clients the highest level of service available, a merger would be beneficial to us all.
“With this merger, Armstrong/Robitaille/Riegle Inc. is now a full service agency offering not only employee benefits, financial services, and commercial insurance, but VIP personal lines and a full range of bond and surety products as well,” Riegle added.
