is this like having an insurance policy? so what assets are they required to have? i thought they had to pay a premium and the money is pooled to payout claims. the only thing fiat will have to make sure is pay the insurance premium. i think, they just want to make sure that the workers will get a paycheck and not compensation for worker’s comp. the AG’s are just trying to make a name for themselves for elections. if they show compassion for the workers, they’ll get their vote.

They are self insured so the concern is Chrysler might be able to walk away from this without holding money to pay outstanding claims. The state funds then would get stuck paying the claims. Those costs then are past on to all insurance companies through assessments. And then guess who those assessments are past on too—–businesses who pay work comp premiums.
