Former Gov. New CEO of Missouri Workers’ Compensation Insurer

June 3, 2009

Former Missouri Gov. Roger Wilson has taken over as acting president and CEO of Missouri Employers Mutual.

Wilson began May 31 as the leader of the workers’ compensation firm that employs more than 200 people in offices in Columbia, Kansas City, Springfield and St. Louis.

Wilson told the Columbia Daily Tribune his new position is temporary and that the company’s board would seek a permanent replacement.

A company spokeswoman said departing president Dennis Smith will be CEO emeritus.

Smith and Wilson served together in the Senate when lawmakers created Missouri Employers Mutual in 1993 to improve competition for workers’ compensation insurance in the state.
