McPartland coming back starts a whole lot of speculation in Wisconsin. We’ve heard that Sentry may want to revise their distribution model, and start a new focus on the Independent Agency system. Also have heard that they’ve looked at some of the Wisconsin mutuals for acquisition or merger.
Will McPartland raid his former stomping grounds and start a whole new distribution path for Sentry? This could be a sleeping giant.
i’m betting that they would be talking to Society, Secura, or West Bend? Those are the small wisconsin mutual struggling or able to merge with a strong carrier like Sentry. But is this possible or likely? I know West bend is hurting based on AM Best’s actions downgrading them earlier this year.
McPartland is back in town? Let me put it this way, if he wants to make a move into the independent agency system, then Acuity, West Bend, and Gen Cas are cooked. McPartland has no love for any of them. He would love to bury West Bend, and they are vulnerable. Heck, they’re starting throw deck chairs off the ship at WB.
Watching Sentry. Mr. McPartland will do some things to shake up their distribution model, that is for sure.
