Why doesn’t this study mention the negligence or driver errors associated with private passenger motorists that collide with tractor/trailers. The article implies that the majority of trucking/auto accidents are caused by the commercial driver, not true, never has been.

Well, this study seems to find that. As written above: “Researchers found that among the 18,9191 truck crashes in Kansas, 13,260 — or 73 percent — were contributory causes related to the truck driver.”

I would propose that ‘Human Error’ is responsible for 99.9% or more of ALL VEHICLE CRASHES. Take ‘rain’ as a factor. Obviously vehicle operators are driving ‘too fast for conditions’ – chalk these up to human error/incompetence. Load shifts – improperly loaded and/or secured by humans. High winds – incompetent drivers fail to get off the road or cannot handle the change in conditions (don’t know the vehicle capabilities or lack thereof). Tire blows – possibly a defective tire – here’s .09% which also includes ‘defects undetectable by humans’

Well, duh! I wonder just how much this “study” cost, anyway….
