They should staff the Sect of State Facilities with an INS agent and send these people back where they came from.

I suppose the INS is one way to heighten their experience of living in the USA. Right now I’d settle for the IRS getting invovled.

    250k x 50 states x avg taxes = Buh Bye, Deficit.

So long as it is a special license that states they are not a Citizen so they cannot be allowed to register to vote with it, I am for it.

This just isn’t right. They are in the country illegally and driving illegally without a license and without insurance now. There is no guarantee that they will pay to go get a license or that they will carry insurance if they get a license.

Will they required to take an English class so they can read our road signs as well as their insurance policy?

What a stupid thing to do. Be prepared for a flood of illegal immigrants to IL and for even more lousy drivers. If they don’t have documentation that means they don’t have a credit score…who is going to offer them auto coverage? What are the steps if you are going to quote personal auto: run an MVR (they don’t have a driving record) and then run credit – no hits there either. Now their rates are sky high and even minimum limits are excessively expensive. It’s not realistic to think that a 30 year old with no credit or driving history will be able to afford auto liability.

Now we will have more lousy AND uninsured drivers on the roads.

Not true. They are driving anyways. Numbers will not increase.
Progressive offers insurance to people with Unverifiable Records.
Not any where close to the rate for Law abiding people with bad credit. My guess would be only a matter of time before the ACLU gets involved. Now there is a union that needs to be busted.

Making them take the licensing exam is of benefit to all of us along with requiring vehicle registration and inspection (if required in your state). It would at least assure us of more drivers aware of basic vehicle law and operating requirements. Oh…and it should be in English, since traffic signs are in English.

Illegals can get insurance in Illinois already.
I agree that the test, etc needs to be in English and they need to pass it without any help.

But my bet is there will now be a push or a court order that says all signs have to be in Spanish and several other languages.

This additional expense in a state that is already broke.

Like IL can afford to have all signs in a language that is not ours.

This is utterly ridiculous and even more ridiculous that we apply “rational- economic” principles to the situation! People whose entire life reflect a rejection of all legal standards are not all of a sudden going to becomes COMPLIANT because it contributes to the greater good? Are you F’n kidding me…

I believe the current governor of Illinois is Pat Quinn, not Jim Edgar.

Edgar was a “sponsor” of this bill pushing it. Because he is an X Il Govoner that is not in jail – right or wrong – he carries some clout with him. Imagine that – a former Il Govoner that left office not digraced. HMMM. Blue moons happen.
They showed the License design on the news last night. Much different from the rest of licenses that Il issues and will flag them to any cop that pulls them over.
I figured out today that I have to pay a Franchise Tax even though I am not a franchise.

Funny how, in Il with all the issues going on, this is what Springfield gets done.
