Wouldn’t the operative word be “illegal” immigrant? It might be a good way to get those who are here illegally to make themselves known so they can be dealt with. Other than that, I think it’s a horrible idea!

Liberal lawmakers are funny – “this bill will make roads safer” – lol. You are giving drivers licenses to people who don’t comply with the law now, what makes you think they are going to give a rats behind what they do when they get on the roads of MN? When they do cause an accident, there is nothing that will keep them in MN. Oh but at least they had a drivers license.
This country is in trouble! Real Trouble with these radical left wing loons making laws!

Perhaps it is a way to keep track of the “illegal” in them. The illegals will swarm to the DMV and be classified as illegal. Then maybe they will have to register to live here or they can’t have the license? Wishful thinking?

An individual that is in this country illegallly should not have ANY rights or privileges. NONE. They need to be sent back to wherever they came from, by the cheapest method possible — it’s highly doubtful that any have enough money to pay their own way home.

Highly doubt it? The illegals as you call them work harder you do and possibly have a better life than the one you have behind your wine bottle

“Illegals as you call them”…..Yes, illegals is what I call them because that is exactly what they are! And because they are in this country illeagally, they most certinly do not deserve a drivers license or anything else that cost American citizens tax dollars…..PERIOD!

I would however welcome with open arms anybody who chooses to go through the proper channels to become a legal resident of this country……drivers license, healthcare, employment and education for every single immigrant who does it the right and responsible way!

The next article I see better be, “ICE agents set up shop at every DMV location in Minnesota.” :)

Hey, haven’t you heard (we have in Texas)… States aren’t allowed to enforce immigration laws — it’s a federal matter!

What a fracking crock. (B/G reference, not gas drilling)

So I guess our local/state PDs shouldn’t investigate bank robberies, kidnapping and child porn, aren’t those Federal, as well?

“illegals” as you call them, they are the ones who bring this country together ! What part dont you white little racist and selfish people don’t understand? And don’t say “OUR COUNTRY” because unless you are a Native American (wich I doubt it) this is not your country! Your family came here years ago and were “illegals” as well.

    Yes to this proposal !!!!

Well, since there were no imigration laws when my relatives imigrated and traveled through Ellis Island, I don’t see how you can call them “illegal” imigrants. Expecting people to follow the law does not make me a racist or selfish. Doesn’t it make sense that we should have some control over who moves into the US? I’d rather ICE did a background check (or whatever they can do). Who wants criminals moving in?

Not sure why I said there were no laws, because I think there were immigration laws when Ellis Island was in use. Anyway, my point is those who came through Ellis Island and those who came before the laws are not illegal.

      Yes:

I get your point here in the “general” sense. But as JW said, there has to be a system of laws as to who can enter the country, and documentation for so many reasons. Tracking criminals would be one such reason. Being taxed fairly in comparison to what you get back from the system would be another. Illegals being paid under the table would not be paying into a system that they take advantage of. Illegals at schools would be them taking from a system that they didn’t pay into. We don’t need the system to break and quality for the rest of us to go down. The process has to exist.

It is not unreasonable to want for there to be a good system for weeding out “illegals” (people who are here without the proper process) or documenting them with a good process and putting them into our system with the same rules as everyone else, same taxes, etc.

That being said: I sympthasize with the fact that you are upset, but I think much less people are racist on this issue than you believe.

Funny how they forget that point! Sad to see there is so much racist people out there. Let them hate us it just makes us stronger.

And isn’t that just a slap in the face to those immigrants who are here LEGALLY?? Very disappointing…….of course, it was Democrats that passed it! Follow the votes and the money, folks!
