I’m surprised that we even get good cops applying for this type of work anymore. It seems like anytime they shoot their gun a grand jury reviews it. 20-20 hindsight is pretty good. Ask any Monday morning quarterback. It’s just not realistic. Any one of the jury members should have their lives reviewed and looked at. Then questioned on why they made some choices that they did. I think then they’d understand, not all choices are perfect choices, but none the less choices that needed to be made.
I don’t think the fact there is a grand jury investigation assumes there is guilt. But when there is a shooting and people are killed someone should review what happened. I’m sure all will be cleared of any wrongdoing.
The Grand Jury is probably the best way of objectively determining facts in situations like this where there can be intense media attention-like in Ferguson where they are doing the same thing.
Slightly off tipic,I’m a law and order guy, but do not like the encroachment of paramilitary influences in law enforcement.
Cops do a great job, but I think that the more they separate theelves from the public with armored cars, tear gas and riot gear, the more it feels like police in South American Russian or Arab nations where its a very confrontational relationship.
While I don’t disagree blu, the paramilitary slant is getting a little too real, you can’t really blame them, can you?
They are trying to protect themselves from perpetrators who have access to bigger & better weapons like AR-15s, armor-piercing ammo, RPGs, etc.
The scary part of this is that are being conditioned to react like all threats are like this, so that when someone does shoot at them with an Air-Soft gun made to look & sound like a Desert Eagle or AK-47, they respond like it really is an AK-47 or Desert Eagle.
First of all it wasn’t an air-soft gun, it was a pellet gun. Think super-high pressure BB gun.
Secondly, if you think that a pellet gun is made to sound like a Desert Eagle (or can even remotely come close to sounding like one) or an AK-47, then I have to question whether or not you’ve actually ever seen any kind of gun in real life. There is no way a pellet gun could sound like a Desert Eagle even with a suppressor/silencer attached.

Stay the heck away from that action, don’t make threatening jestures at law enforcement personell, and you just might be OK.
