Living in a state with excessive DUI penalties what is this judge thinking. You have a person who quite frankly appears to care less what the law is and they will let him out on house arrest after 3 days. Someone like this needs long term felony incarceration to protect the rest of us on the road from him.

10 drunk driving arrests, no license and no insurance and he gets 3 days in jail and 6 months at home?!?! At least keep him in jail where maybe he has a shot at drying out. Now he is home and ordering booze to be delivered and drinking and whatever. I hope it doesn’t happen, but how many stories have we read on IJ alone that detail out DUI deaths involving someone with multiple arrests for DUI?

When and how can we start holding judges accountable for their poor performance and bad decision making.

    Dear Mr. Henson.

On behalf of the Office of Attorney General of the State of Kansas, your Application for a Concealed Carry Handgun License has been approved.

Your background review indicated that while you have had a number of moving violations, none were severe enough to block your constitutional right to carry a firearm.

You are authorized to purchase a handgun at any registered firearms dealer in the State of Kansas for the next twelve months, and to carry it on your person at any time.

Please refrain from using your new weapon in a dangerous manner, and enjoy the privileges of being an American citizen wisely and responsibly.

@ Reality Bites-This mope has no regard for the law-do you honestly think that he’d bother applying for a CC Permit? I’d betcha dollars to donuts that the only way you’d keep him from driving or do anyting else he morally shouldn’t do would be to lock him up and keep him away from law abiding citizens. If we locked all these dangerous people away or did a better job with the death penalty when murder or drug dealing occurs then we’d NEVER have to have guns to protect ourselves. Think what a great world it’d be if our government actually served OUR interests.
I would want to carry just to protect myself from guys like him when I’m out of the house.

In a State that finds spiritual guidance from the Westboro Baptist Church and political leadership from Governor Sam Brownback, why would one expect any better jurisprudence from its courts?

True, but in my state of Massachusetts we have had similar situations.
