Two additional members of a Cincinnati-area fraudulent auto insurance claim ring have been sentenced in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court, the Ohio Department of Insurance announced.
The three main participants in the ring have now been sentenced for filing fraudulent claims for automobile accidents that never occurred, defrauding insurance companies of approximately $85,000.
Deandra Chambers was sentenced on Sept. 3 to four years in prison. Chambers pleaded guilty to three counts of insurance fraud and one count of tampering with records.
Trenton Evans, who was convicted of three counts of insurance fraud, was sentenced on July 30 to an additional six months in prison. Evans is currently in prison serving an 18-month term on an unrelated matter.
On June 16, Domynck Elahee was the first member of the ring to be sentenced. Elahee, who pleaded guilty to three felony counts of insurance fraud, was ordered to serve three years of community control and pay restitution of $7,700 to two insurance companies.
The Ohio Department of Insurance led the investigation with assistance provided by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and the National Insurance Crime Bureau.
