Since when is protecting civil rights not important? Or, are these just civil rights you do not agree with?

I never said they weren’t important. They are very important. ALL PEOPLE’S CIVIL RIGHTS ARE VERY IMPORTANT.

Ohio Agent below makes my point exactly. The civil and privacy rights of many are consistently being trampled by those of a few (at least in the last 7+ years).

Assimilate and don’t demand. Be who you are, but understand that the world doesn’t revolve around you.

I’m all for someone being their own person, but what is happening in the transgender/gay community is this shoulder chip where they’re being lead to believe that everyone is always out to get them (which couldn’t be further from the truth). To be on the offense and force your way into an environment and make everyone assimilate to you or else. Do you understand how damaging that is, not only just to individual communities, but to a society? That’s segregation at it’s core, but because someone is transgender/gay, it’s suddenly not segregation? It is, it’s alive and well, and we’re in big trouble because of it.

I’m also not saying that there wasn’t harassment here. There must have been for it to make it’s way to the courts. And if that occurred, THEN an individual has a right to bring suit. But getting the EEOC involved is a total lobby/attorney play. The transgender/gay lobby are bullies, plain and simple. If the judgment was for the harassment this person endured, 100% okay. If it’s for the fact that a business would not assimilate to this individual and allow them to use a women’s room when they still have a penis fully intact? No. They’re wrong to send that message to others that it’s okay to punish businesses when you’re still pre-op.

I was just going to add, their harassment must have been really blatant- and kudos to Britney and EEOC for accepting what appears to be a reasonable settlement ( for a change)

This is such a simply thing. If she still has a penis, she should use the Men’s restroom. If she’s had sexual reassignment surgery (had her male parts removed), then she should use the Women’s restroom. This should apply in workplace, schools (including locker rooms), public restrooms. Every time I hear this, I’m left wondering why the privacy rights of everybody else is ignored for the transgenders. If Uncle Same is going to impose individual rights to use whichever restroom individuals prefer, then they should require that the stalls be modified so that you can’t see in the cracks of the stall walls and that the walls should run from floor to ceilings.

Looks like Britney’s right to self expression and personal safety & dignity are zealously protected by our Federal Govt; As long as she doesn’t want to hang a Confederate Flag in her cubicle, or carry a fire-arm, or buy a 32oz soft drink in New York City. After all, we cant allow any of that kind of stuff going on.
I wonder though if the owners of the business aren’t looking at office space in Cozumel?

I agree with Ohio. What would women do if anyone with a penis walked into a womens locker room? Just cause I say I am a woman and hide the proof that I am not means I should be allowed in their bathroom & locker room. Can the other women sue for Delux allowing a person with man parts in the bath room? Co Workers using the wrong pro noun? For years he is a he and then all of a sudden everyone needs to change gears and call him a her? Just cause he/she said so? I dont even know what to call them folks… What is the PC term? Kaitlyn? Bruce? I guess the needs of the few outweigh the needs of the many. Used to be majority rule in this country.

I consider myself an open-minded person. We had a situation here it the St. Louis area at a high school. The student, born as a male, was transgender, but still had a penis. This person wanted to use the girls bathroom and locker room and the school said no. This person was offered to use the teachers lounge, but that wasn’t what he/she wanted. When it got right down to it, even with my liberal views, I didn’t want my 15 year old niece changing and showering in the same locker room with someone who still has a penis. I don’t think most of you would either.

Your niece’s high school got lucky. The Education Department’s Office of Civil Rights forced Palatine High School District 211 (under threat of losing $6 million in federal funding) to sign an agreement to allow a born-male, trans girl student access to the girls’ locker room and bathrooms. The only concession made to the school (which put up a fight) was to allow “privacy curtains” to be installed in the locker room to provide for girls who wanted privacy when they changed. Too soon to say how this has worked out.
