As stupid as the lawsuit is, I think this is something that needs to be addressed in court. There are far too many sporting events now, hockey being the main culprit, where the home team bans the visiting fans from wearing clothing that supports the visiting team. In some instances, the home team has even prevented ticket sales to fans of the visiting team by using the credit card information.
Allowing these practices to continue is akin to segregation. If a person is willing and able to pay a price for the ticket, then they should be allowed to wear what they want, regardless of who they are supporting.
Ironically the main culprit of this is Nashville blocking ticket purchases by people from Chicago.
My problem with it is that the stadiums are largely built with public money, the infrastructure, police, medical, security, etc are as well, including federal money, and they are blocking people from certain areas from purchasing tickets. You can use Stubhub or a similar service to get around it, but you shouldn’t have to if you don’t want to.
It’s a ridiculous lawsuit and a waste of the courts time & money. It’s a Bear’s “reward program”. Let them do what they want with it. “Akin to segregation”? My goodness, that’s a little dramatic.
Courts are for legal matters of importance. They are not designed for people stupid enough to waste their money on a cause that is based on their need to be abused for their allegiance to the visiting team. It is masochism that is driving this idiot…obviously! Do not support his cause by attempting to make this newsworthy…
In every hockey game I watched this season on TV, players from both teams had fan gear on. The point the Bears make is: Pre game warm-up is an invite for Bears fans. They are not prohibiting fan gear at the games. Com’on Man!
Maybe the Bears are trying to protect the guy from getting beat up by not exposing him to drunken Bears fans before the game. I don’t agree with this policy. If you buy a ticket, or season tickets, you should be able to root for whichever team you like. The Bears should be happy to be selling tickets.

Not being allowed to wear opposing teams garb is the Bears right as owner. This is just silliness and this plaintiff should be smacked down by the courts and then fined.
The guy makes it sound like that he cannot dress how he wants to, but in fact, the issue is that he is not allowed on the team’s sideline dressed in support of the opposing team. The result, if he wins this lawsuit, is the Bears will remove this promotional feature designed to reward fans of their team (…and not fans of other teams). If the man enjoys the verbal abuse he obviously gets by supporting the rival at a team’s home stadium, so be it. It’s his right to satisfy his masochistic needs with a intentially stupid gesture . But when he wants to use promotions designed for the actual fans as a means to this love of being abused, it borders on idiocy and reeks of someone abusing of the legal system. This guy is pushing it to a point where he is wasting court time and the tax payer’s money to achieve his own personal desire of playing the fool. It is down right shameful. I hope this case is thrown out of court and this man is scolded severely for abusing the court system. And the media can help by not printing stories about how stupid people can be as newsworthy items. It just fuels other morons to do stupid things to get onto the internet.
