Kemper Insurance Companies’ Chairman and Chief Executive Officer David B. Mathis has named Frederick Kist as Kemper’s new chief actuary.
Kist will be nominated for election as a senior vice president of Lumbermens Mutual Casualty Company, Kemper’s flagship company. Kist has 27 years of experience in the insurance actuarial field.
Since 1997 he’s been senior vice president and chief actuary for the CNA Insurance Companies. At CNA, he headed up the corporate actuarial functions in CNA’s Underwriting Policy Group and was responsible for actuarial development. Kist joins Kemper at the end of October.
He will report to Mathis and will oversee all aspects of Kemper’s statistical and actuarial practices. He is also an expert in both statutory and GAAP accounting principles.
Kist replaces Ron Greco, who will remain with Kemper through a transition period as a consultant.
